Online Communication, Business Assessment
The business that I chose for this blog post is Nordstrom, for the reason that it is a store that I have never personally shopped at, and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to investigate what type of store it is. For my investigation, I looked into Nordstrom's Instagram, Facebook, X, website, and LinkedIn. I discovered that Nordstrom uses easy-to-understand phrases and advertisements that are tailored to each online networking site that they use for example on Facebook Nordstrom uses posts like the one below to market to its users on Facebook:
Unlike in X where Nordstrom uses posts like this one to attract its user's attention:
These two different approaches are examples of good communication online because they understand who views them based on the different networking sites and what would interest them.
The first thing that a viewer sees on the Nordstrom website at the top is a Valentine's shipping deal that is available until February 9 and promotes either expedited or 2-day shipping that is free. Towards the middle of the page, there is another discount moving advertising and links to in-season needed items that one should take a look at. Located at the end of the page are fast links that lead the viewer to parts of the page that direct to Nordstrom's customer services, information, stores and services, cards and rewards, and other Nordstrom-owned stores. I feel that how it is organized is effective because it is easy to scroll through, view the discounts and offers, see the newest items that are trending, and then get information or help at the bottom without there needing to be directions.
Nordstrom does a good job of communicating its online identity because of how it appears when searched, for example, the first thing you see when you search Nordstrom is its locations and a short paragraph of what it is, then the store's social media sites appear so that you can see what accounts it has, where you can follow them and know more about them. But a way that Nordstrom could improve their online communication is through adding more color to their networking sites that reflected the theme that they are trending so that seeing what was in fashion is easier to see and match.
